Concept Design and
Industrial Design
Concept design is the initial big picture or macro design. It shows us what problems the product will solve, how it will solve them, and what it will feel like as it is solving them. Arguably the most creative stage of product development, concept design is stickies slapped on whiteboards, ink and wash, and napkins and crayons even. It calls on us to consider sweeping ideas and all the various possibilities. The more the better. In concept design lies the very soul of innovation.
Explore the Creo Design Exploration Extension (DEX).
Do more with your time: Creo provides integrated concept design software solutions for concept and detailed design that can maximize the number of concepts you explore and save you from redundant work.
As a product designer, managing a number of design paths and variations means you have to create numerous files. Creo Design Exploration Extension (DEX), an extension to Creo Parametric, lets you try out new design ideas, explore alternatives with existing designs, and keep track of the decision points along the way.
When 2D CAD is the tool of choice for the up-front conceptual design and 3D CAD is the tool of choice for the detailed design, transitioning between these two approaches becomes the primary challenge.
PTC Creo Layout solves this problem by providing a sophisticated 2D environment with all the tools the 2D designer needs to develop concept designs. It is built on top of the same technology as the rest of the PTC Creo family, so those 2D designs can be seamlessly reused as the basis for 3D models without the need to import or recreate data in 3D. In addition, the associativity between the 2D and 3D designs can be optionally preserved, ensuring that later changes to the 2D design are reflected automatically in 3D.

Easily handle complex curves and production-ready surfaces.
Industrial designers know it takes powerful tools to achieve complex curves, the smoothest of high-quality surfaces, and compelling renderings. Use Creo’s freestyle design capabilities to do rapid freeform surfacing and attach that surface to your parametric model. Take advantage of Creo Parametric’s technical surfacing capabilities or choose extensions for advanced surfacing and rendering.
Finally, use augmented reality (AR) to share your design with stakeholders anywhere in the world. You create the experience in Creo and send team members a link that they click to visualize your work against a real-world backdrop.
With Creo Render Studio, powered by Luxion’s KeyShot ®, you can easily generate stunning photorealistic images of your product directly from Creo.
